This comfortable spot beneath a tree Was probably planned for you and me; Why do you suppose God made a flea? Tickle me more behind the ears.
I hear a cricket or some such bug (Tickle me, please, behind the ears) And there is a hole some creature dug (Tickle me, please, behind the ears). I can't quite smell it from where we sit, But I think a rabbit would hardly fit; Tomorrow, perhaps, I'll look into it: Tickle me more behind the ears.
A troublesome fly is near my nose, (Tickle me, please, behind the ears); He thinks I'll snap at him, I suppose, (Tickle me, please, behind the ears). If I lay on my back with my legs in air Would you scratch my stomach, just here and there? It's a puppy trick and I don't much care, But tickle me more behind the ears.
Heaven, I guess, is all like this (Tickle me, please, behind the ears); It's my idea of eternal bliss (Tickle me, please, behind the ears). With angel cats for a dog to chase, And a very extensive barking space, And big bones buried all over the place, -- And you, to tickle me behind my ears.

05-13-2010 1:37 PM -- By: Sally Majors, Critters.com memorial: Chance Memorial Hello Chance, I miss you so much. I know you are in a better place and I know you are busy making friends. I miss you so much in the mornings when I read the paper, without you nudging my arm. I miss you at meal time when you would watch every move I made in the kitchen with your nose in the air enjoying the aroma. I miss our evening time watching TV with you kicking my chair during one of your dreams. I always thought you must have been having a great dream of running and chasing rabbits. Dad thought it looked more like you were having a nightmare, with your low barking and feet kicking. I miss your golden eyes that looked like you had eye liner and mascara on. We haven't had any thunderstorms since you left. I know I will think of you and how you hated storms. How you tried to get on my lap, were you looking for protection or trying to shield mom from the lightening? I hope there are no thunder storms at the Bridge. Judo and Jigzee are taking good care of us, I know you loved them. Thank you for being so kind and good to them. Most of all, thank you for being the best boy we could have ever wanted and for being in our lives. We will love you forever.
05-13-2010 9:55 AM -- By: , Pet's name: Your face has left a memory Of kindness, warmth, and safety. Although I know they're gone now Your love will always be with me.
When a quiet tear streams down my face I think of your love's embrace. When a day I'm down and blue I will always think of you.
Of all these emotions empowering me. I know that you are always here Whispering "I love you" in my ear.
I wish so much You didn't go But I guess you had to For reasons I do not know. I miss your face Wiping a tear. I miss always Holding me near.
I can't wait til the day I see you once more But I know until then My heart will be sore.
Now each of my days I will live for you Sometimes it'll be hard, But I can pull through.
I know you'll be watching And smiling above

and think of all of our happy years.
When I was sick, you were at my side
Your tears and fears, you tried to hide..
I know you did your best for me,
but God above was calling me.
The tears with time, will go away,
but the love we shared will always stay.
Now the Lord has set me free,
that is how I want you to remember me...
One day in the future, just over the ridge,
I’ll be waiting for you, standing on Rainbow Bridge.
That gentle breeze that made the wind chimes sing?
That was me, I was there with you.
The gentle snow falling upon your tears?
And that little beam of sunlight that danced on the
otherwise shaded deck that day?
Until we’re together, never more to be apart.
Remember me with love, I left my paw prints on your heart.
Wherever you are going and whatever you may do,
Just look down right beside you, I will be there next to you.
Remember and Believe

05-11-2010 12:38 AM -- By: Carlos and Yvette, Critters.com memorial: Buddie Memorial There are no words to describe the painful lost of a pet. We lost our precious baby doggie "Buddie Love." We had him for 14 years, he died at 15 years old. It has been two difficult weeks, but we've finally found peace and acceptance through prayer and meditation. We cry tears of joy and thankfulness for learning unconditional love from our Buddie. We let go of the pain and the huge hole he left in our hearts and we now embrace the wonderful memories he left us. We wish those who have lost their pets that you will soon see a colorful "rainbow" after the storm passes. We know that our Buddie is happy, we have no doubt about this. Mother's day was a difficult day, putting a memorial together helped us realized that we needed to move on and accept God's final decision. We now realize that death is part of life and we must celebrate Buddie's life -- perhaps volunteering our time to rescue dogs and cats who have been abused or giving our time and money to The Guide Dogs of America. We suggest finding a cause to honor your beloved pet, it helps.
05-10-2010 2:05 PM -- By: Sally Majors, Critters.com memorial: Chance Memorial By Unknown Author:
From time to time people tell me, "Lighten up, it's just a dog", or "That's a lot of money for just a dog." They don't understand the distance traveled, time spent, or costs involved for "just a dog". Some of my proudest moments have come about with "just a dog". Many hours have passed with my only company being "just a dog", and not once have I felt slighted. Some of my saddest moments were shared with "just a dog". In those days of darkness, the gentle touch of "just a dog" provided comfort and purpose to overcome the day.
If those who think it's "just a dog" feel that way, they probably understand the phrases like "just a friend", "just a sunrise", or "just a promise". "Just a dog" brings into my life the very essence of friendship, trust, and pure unbridled joy. "Just a dog" brings out the compassion and patience that makes me a better person. Because of "Just a dog" I would rise early, take long walks and take the time to notice all the little things, like "just a dog" would.
For me and folks like me, it's not "just a dog". It's an embodiment of all the hopes and dreams of the future, the fond memories of the past, and the pure joy of the moment. "Just a dog" brought out what's good in me and diverted my thoughts away from myself and the worries of the day.
I hope that someday people can understand it's not "just a dog". It's the thing that gives me humanity and keeps me from being "just a woman".
So the next time you hear the phrase "Just a dog", smile, because they "just don't understand".

05-09-2010 11:51 PM -- By: Bev B, Critters.com memorial: Klaus Memorial I would like to wish all of the Mommies a very Happy Mother's Day - your furbabies were very blessed to have shared their love with such wonderful and caring women. Bless all of you on this day. And thank you for all of your thoughtful wishes over the last 3 years since my Klaus passed away.
Also I would like to let you all know that I have finally put a page together in memory of our Monie. She actually passed away a year ago this Tuesday. It had just been difficult for me to create a page in her memory - the pain of losing her really left an empty hole in my heart, especially since we had already lost Klaus to cancer. I tried a few times to draft something together, but the memories only brought me sadness.
Anyhow, I want to thank everyone in advance for taking the time to visit Monie's page and meeting this special girl. She is sharing Klaus' website (Klaus.critters.com) because I wanted them to remain together. Monie's story is a page on Klaus' site.
Again, thank you everyone for all of your support over the years.

Well it's been over 2 weeks since saying goodbye and at times it seems longer. Nothing has changed, the sun still shines and the birds still come to the feeder, life goes on in my corner of the world. Oh sure, I don't have white dog hair on my clothes anymore. I don't have the daily routine of preparing Chance's food (just the way he liked it). I don't have that nudge on my arm while I am reading the paper...........did I say "nothing has changed?" Everything has changed. I still have my 2 other little furbabies and they are a constant source of love. They too are missing their "big Bubba" to steal food from. Miss you Chance like crazy. Maybe someday another big handsome guy like you will find us and say "gee, this looks like a good home, I think I'll stay". If and when that happens, we will try not to compare him to you..........that wouldn't be fair to him.

05-08-2010 7:43 AM -- By: , Pet's name: Happy Mother's Day to all Critters .No Love like a Mother's Love There is no love, like a mother's love, no stronger bond on earth... like the precious bond that comes from God, to a mother, when she gives birth. A mother's love is forever strong, never changing for all time... and when her children need her most, a mother's love will shine. God bless these special mothers, God bless them every one... for all the tears and heartache, and for the special work they've done. When her days on earth are over, a mother's love lives on... through many generations, with God's blessings on each one. Be thankful for our mothers, for they love with a higher love... from the power God has given, and the strength from up above.

Before I was a Dog Mom: I made and ate hot meals unmolested. I had unstained, unfurred clothes. I had quiet conversations on the phone, even if the doorbell rang. Before I was a Dog Mom: I slept as late as I wanted And never worried about how late I got to bed or if I could get into my bed. Before I was a Dog Mom: I cleaned my house every day. I never tripped over toys, stuffies, chewies Or invited the neighbor's dog over to play. Before I was a Dog Mom: I didn't worry if my plants, cleansers, plastic bags, toilet paper, soap or deodorant were poisonous or dangerous. Before I was a Dog Mom: I had never been peed on Pooped on Drooled on Chewed on Or pinched by puppy teeth. Before I was a Dog Mom: I had complete control of My thoughts, My body and mind. I slept all night without sharing the covers or pillow. Before I was a Dog Mom: I never looked into big, soulful eyes and cried. I never felt my heart break into a million pieces when I couldn't stop a hurt. I never knew something so furry and four-legged could affect my heart so deeply. Before I was a Dog Mom: I had never held a sleeping puppy just because I couldn't put it down. I had never gotten up in the middle of the night every 10 minutes to make sure all was well. I didn't know how warm it feels inside to feed a hungry puppy. I didn't know that something so small could make me feel so important. Before I was a Dog Mom: I had never known the warmth, the joy, the love, the heartache, the wonderment or the satisfaction of being A Dog Mom Author Unknown
