I remember the day we brought Malibu home 14 years ago. This cute little bundle of love that fit into the palm our our hand. She blessed us with her grace, humor, beauty and love everyday for the last 14 years. In the end her multiple health problems took their toll on her little body, but those problems never crushed her spirit. Until the end she was the hero that I would love to be. Words cannot begin to describe how much she will be missed. She was our light and the heartbeat of this home. I hope that your soul was carried to heaven on the wings of a thousand butterflies. Fly home little angel...you are free now.
Goodbye With a heavy heart; and tears in my eyes
after all these years; we must say goodbye
Please understand; I've done all I could
if there was anything I could have done; you know I would
I'm sitting right here; gently rub your ears
while I talk to you softly; trying to hold back the tears
The memories you gave us; we'll never forget
especially the one; of the day we met
One last hug; and one last kiss
you have no idea; how much you'll be missed
To look into your eyes; this one last time
you tell me it's ok; you know it's your time
Close your eyes now; and go to sleep
we'll pray to the Lord; your soul he'll keep
Go in peace now; our good little friend
I'll stay right here with you; until the end
Dream of that special day and time
when we'll meet again; and all will be fine
We'll run and play; side by side
with a soft warm feeling; deep down inside
Your memory will live on; in each one of us
Have a safe journey; through the night
I promise when you awake; you'll be in God's light
So with heavy hearts; and tears in our eyes
just for now my friend; we say goodbye
Daddy and Malibu

A book in honor of Malibu Ashcroft - Thomas
The chronical of 14 years in the life of one small creature who teachs love, compassion, humor to two human beings struggling to grow up.
A story of love, loss, struggle, joy, adventure and failure. "Fourteen" will give everyone the insight that a teacher doesn't always have to be in human form.
Malibu passed away from complications of a birth defect (Pericardial Diaphramatic Hernia), part of her intestines were in her chest cavity wrapped around her heart. Se is a miracle kitty, because the vets have told us that most cats with this defect either die within the 1st year of life or need major surgery. She beat the odd, however as she aged she also developed:
a heart murmur
high blood pressure
a touch of diabetes
She never once compalined about her many trips to the vet and the many medications she was on. Once in awhile she would put her paw in front of her mouth as i to say, "no more yucky stuff Mommy!", but she was a model patient to the vets. She won the "Best Patient" award at once vet because she laid perfectly still for one ultrasound without the need for restraint. She was our good little princess and will live on in our hearts forever!
