Millie, I told Shorty to be watching for you at The Rainbow Bridge.  I think you will love it there.  You will be healthy and happy, no more pain.  I wasn't expecting to lose you today so my heart has shattered to pieces.  I want you to know that Daddy never meant to hurt you.  He didn't know you were under his truck.  I was praying I would get to bring you home, but I knew from the look in your eyes you were in great pain.  Yet, you never whimpered, whined, growled, or let on you hurt in anyway.  Please know in your beautiful heart that I love you more than I could ever show.  You and Shorty both.  Your happy spirit was truly an inspiration to me.  No matter what my mood, you would come bouncing along and love me in your way.  I will even miss you barking all night long!  What were you barking at anyway?  I miss you running up to my car to say "hello".  I miss seeing you bounce across the yard when you were feeling good that day.  I guess the neighbors will have to get used to you not carrying off their stuff.  You always brought home the craziest things.  Everyone loves you, though.  You loved them in return.  I want so badly to feel you nudge me to say "Pet me mom".  I loved the way you would sit and lean on me to show your love.  My heart never healed from losing my Shorty and will forever be broken!  I am sorry, Millie, that I wasn't there when your spirit started the journey to the Rainbow Bridge.  I am so sorry that you were with strangers at the vet's office.  I know you knew some of them, but Mom wasn't there.  I will never forgive myself for not being there and for not saying Good-Bye to you.  I hope you will forgive me.  As I promised Shorty, you will be buried right next to him where you belong.  I love you, Millie, and I always will.  My heart will never be whole without you and Shorty to fill the void.  I miss you.

I will miss your face

Rainbow Bridge Poem

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.  When
an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here,
they go to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all
of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is
plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and
All the animals who have been ill and old are restored
to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole
and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days
and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for
one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who
had to be left behind. They all run and play together, but the day
comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His
bright eyes are intent; his eager body begins to quiver. Suddenly
he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his
legs carrying him faster and faster. You have been spotted, and
when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together
in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain
upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you
look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from
your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together.

My Gift to Jesus

I wish someone had given little Jesus a dog
as loyal and loving as mine
to sleep by His manger and gaze in His eyes
and adore Him for being devine.

As our Lord grew to manhood, His own faithful dog
would have followed Him through the day
while He preached to the crowds and made the sick well
and knelt in the Garden to pray.

It is sad to remember that Christ went away
to face death alone and apart
with no tender dog following behind
to comfort its Master's heart.

And when Jesus rose that Easter morn,
how happy He would have been
as His dog kissed His hand and barked it's delight
for the One who died for all men!

Well, the Lord has a dog now: I just sent Him mine,
the old pal so dear to me,
And I smile through my tears on this first day alone,
knowing they're in eternity

You are Beautiful!

"Don't Grieve Too Long”

Don't grieve too long, for now I'm free.
I've followed the path God has set for me.
I ran to Him when I heard His Call.
I swished my tail and left it all.

I could not stay another day,
To bark, to love, to romp or play.
Games left unplanned must stay that way.
I found such peace, it made my day.

My parting has left you with a void.
Please fill it with remembered joy,
A friendship shared, your laugh, a kiss.
Oh yes, these things I too shall miss.

Be not burdened with times of sorrow.
I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow.
My life has been full, you've given so much,
Your time, your love and gentle touch.

Perhaps my time seemed all too brief.
Don't lengthen it now with undue grief.
Lift up your head and share with me,
God wanted me, He set me free!

I miss you so much!

All That I Am

I have two eyes with which I can see
This wondrous world God gave to us free.
I have two ears with which I can hear
The sounds of nature all 'round us so clear.
I have a mouth with which I can eat
The food of life that tastes so sweet.
I have a nose with which I can smell
Scents in the earth it holds so well.
I have a mind with which I can think
Even the power for our minds to link.
I have a back, which has the strength
To carry your burdens to any length.
I have a tail with which to wave
And acknowledge the happiness you just gave.
I have four legs with which I can run
As fast as the wind when you say the word "come".
I have a fur coat with which to stay warm
That feels soft to you against your arm.
But more than the rest I have a heart
Bursting with love for you since our start.
To you I give everything that I am
To serve only you in my short life span.
Happiness for me is to share my existence
With one who loves me with such persistence.
All that I am, I give freely to you
In return all I ask is you love me to.
My life, my donation should yours be in peril,
My steps follow yours, by your side ever faithful.
You have my trust, my faith and my love,
You have everything I am, a gift from above.

You are My Pretty Girl forever!

My Heart Will Go On

Every night in my dreams
I see you, I feel you
That is how I know you go on.
Far across the distance and spaces between us
You have come to show you go on.
Near, far, wherever you are
I believe that the heart does go on.
Once more you open the door
And you're here in my heart
And my heart will go on and on.
Love can touch us one time and last for a lifetime
And never let go till we're gone.
Love was when I loved you
One true time I hold you
In my life we'll always go on.
Near, far wherever you are
I believe that the heart does go on.
Once more, you open the door
And you're hear in my heart
And my heart will go on and on.
You're here, there's nothing I fear
And I know that my heart will go on.
We'll stay forever this way
You are safe in my heart
And my heart will go on and on.

I miss this face...those loving eyes!

I thought as each day passed that my heart would begin to hurt less and less...but that is not true at all.  In fact, it seems to hurt more.  I miss you and Shorty so much...nothing or no one will ever to fill the void that has been left in my heart...

I wish it didn't hurt so bad.  I know I am married and I am not alone...but Millie, now that you and Shorty are gone, I feel so alone.  You two were all I had for many years.  Oh yes, I know I have my kitty, Little Bit.  You know what I mean.  I had never had my very own dogs before...then I was blessed with two of the most loving and beautiful dogs...There is a bond there that cannot and will not be broken...

I love you, Millie!

Wolf had to leave us last night...very unexpectedly.  I know that you and Shorty are happy to be reunited with your buddy...but we miss him here...Your Daddy and I did not get a chance to say goodbye!  So could you please tell him that we are sorry and we miss him very much?...

Dearest Millie,

It has been a long time since I visited your memorial!  My heart simply cannot handle it.  I cry like it is the day you left me.  I miss you so much still and love you more!  You will always be my Pretty Girl and my Angel.  Every now and then, I think I catch a glimpse of you wondering the property, so I know you are here in spirit.  Until I see you again, Millie....I love you!
