Smile for the camera!

To my little Ted: thank you for so many years of loving, loyal companionship. I love you and will miss your sweet face. You were a rambunctious youngster, an energetic adult, and a venerable, wise old man with the look of a little baby.

  • the time he escaped underneath the driveway
  • our songs

  • Ted kisses.

Christmas With My Bear: 2010

His Sweet Face

Teddy is not a Weiner Dog, but this song always reminds me of him. As soon as I get the .mp3, I will upload it:

Dixie the Tiny Dog
Peter Himmelman

I'm a tiny dog named Dixie I have small feet which pitter patter on the linoleum floor, you can hear my toenails in the middle of the night My tag says I belong to the Johnsons, but they don't own me, they just feed me, they just bought me one day No one owns me, I'm Dixie the tiny dog And in the middle of the day I sit in the sun and I hear young children call me a weiner dog, perhaps that's what I am The Germanic term is dachshund, and I like that I'm thin and I'm proud and no one can make fun of me I can slip through the bars of a prison if I were ever incarcerated, but I don't know what I would do wrong My body yields no evil inclination, I'm a pure weiner dog My name is Dixie, and I go dancing 'cross the floor in the evening of the Johnsons when everyone is sleeping Sometimes I look for a morsel of food, but they're so clean they're almost anal-retentive in their cleanliness habits and there's nothing for me But I don't despair Because I know tomorrow my Gaines Burgers will be there, and they will unwrap the plastic from them and then feed me this succulent dish, and I will eat And oh, I've watched the German Shepherds with their long necks, their graceful necks, dipping into the toilet to drink whenever they want to have a drink of cool water in that well But I must plead, I must beg, I must whine for Mr. Johnson to put out my bowl, or one of the Johnson boys to refill it after I drink it, because I'm Dixie the dog and I like water And in the middle of the night you can see me dancing a small Fred Astaire tap dance, with my little toenails They go click click click against the linoleum, and I run down the hall and I slide And the back of my goes in front of me...slowly I'm long and I'm thin, I'm Dixie the tiny dog and I like it.

Teddy's Blog

Teddy is loving his memorial website, but he is also looking forward to sharing his observations on life, the afterlife, reuniting with his brother, Bernie, and getting to heaven via a doggie door.

Ted Goes To Work

After a tough day in the office, Ted likes to curl up on his mama's desk.

Don’t cry because it’s over.  Smile because it happened.”  Theodor Geisel (Dr. Seuss)

To my tiny, little Ted,

I miss your dog smell and your dog breath. I miss the exact way you feel in my arms when I'd hold you like a baby. I miss kissing your little cheek. I miss your bony, little bear butt. I miss your paws.

I miss when you wanted something: attention, to go on a walk, or food how would you stand there, sneeze at me, scamper around in a circle, and you didn't get what you wanted, you would start barking at me.

I miss how I would ask you if you wanted a "cookie" and you would get so excited. OR when I used to rattle the can opener for your food--how excited you got.

I loved how you would eat your Kibbles n Bits one piece at a time away from your dish. I miss going bye bye in the car with you when we'd stop at stop lights, and you'd stand up on your hind paws and look out the window.

I miss how you decided it would be fun to perch on the rear dash and look out the back window.

I miss you dancing.

I miss kissing your nose, and I miss holding your face to my face and saying, "Let's have a psychic moment."

You will always be my Best Bear Friend.

Ted: Christmas 2009

"in your eyes
the light the heat
in your eyes
I am complete
in your eyes
I see the doorway to a thousand churches
in your eyes
the resolution of all the fruitless searches
in your eyes
I see the light and the heat
in your eyes
oh, I want to be that complete
I want to touch the light
the heat I see in your eyes"

Rowdy :)

Teddy, I really miss you today. I miss how you would go Sleepies right next to me, and I would cover you up with a blanket, so only your little Bear head would stick out.

Love, Mama

Jon and Ted

Man and Her Dog

To my beloved Jon. Thank you so much for being there for Teddy. I know it's not easy to care for a senior dog. You were always there to clean Teddy's area and feed him, and you gave him way more manly nicknames than I did: "Teddy Boy" and "Dude."

I know Teddy was happiest laying across your chest and sleeping soundly.

You gave him lots of loving attention, and I know he loved you.

Some of my best times are when we took Teddy for walks around the lake and him exploring Minnehaha Falls with us. And going to Sea Salt. :)

I am glad that I got to share this time with Teddy with you.

I love you.

Update January 26, 2011

My mom passed suddenly nine days ago on January 17, 2011. We had funeral services yesterday for my beloved mother, Joan Kelley Pariso, yesterday. I buried Teddy with her.
