Lookin' for Small Furry Things

Time to Go
The time has come I think you know
the Lord is calling so I must go
I love you so much; I wish it wasn't so
I wish I could stay; I don't want to go

You're the best family a dog ever had
so kind and gentle never mean or mad
I'll never forget the day that we met
I was so lucky to become your pet

You opened your door and showed me your heart
I'll never forget you; we'll never part
You loved me and cared for me over the years
you taught me everything and took away my fears

The Lord is calling now I must go
but before I go I want you to know
I know it hurts to lose a friend
but I'll always be with you even to the end.

I gave you your last wish my sweet girl.

      The Last Battle

If it should be that I grow frail and weak And pain should keep me from my sleep,
Then will you do what must be done,
For this -- the last battle -- can't be won.
You will be sad I understand,
But don't let grief then stay your hand,
For on this day, more than the rest,
Your love and friendship must stand the test.
We have had so many happy years,
You wouldn't want me to suffer so.
When the time comes, please, let me go.
Take me to where to my needs they'll tend,
Only, stay with me till the end
And hold me firm and speak to me
Until my eyes no longer see.
I know in time you will agree
It is a kindness you do to me.
Although my tail its last has waved,
From pain and suffering I have been saved.
Don't grieve that it must be you
Who has to decide this thing to do;
We've been so close -- we two -- these years,
Don't let your heart hold any tears.

Been Swimmin' With Katy

I'm a Jack Russell Terrier.  I love to run fast, very fast.  Swimming was the best fun!  I was such a good swimmer that Abbey, an Australian Sheperd (duh...afraid of water??), my friend down the street, would come and get me to retrieve her ball if her Dad threw it into the water.  She would run up to me, barking, turn around and start for home, looking over her shoulder to make sure I was coming.  I always did.  She was three times bigger than me, but didn't have my skill or courage.  But she was a good friend.  I loved playing with Abbey.

Over the years, I had a lot of people friends who liked to throw the ball in the lake to watch me belly-flop into the water and get it.  They were fun people.

I could jump anywhere I wanted.  Auntie Linda remembers when I jumped from the driveway on to the hood of her car.  I could jump on the back of the sofa from the floor...didn't need the seat cushions.

Once I rode on Uncle Rick's bike.  WOW!  I could see everything moving by, the wind in my face.  I loved it!

I got old one day, but I still liked to follow my best friend Tom around the yard as he cut our grass or shoveled mulch.  And two years ago, I still had it in me to catch a mole messin' up Mom's pretty lawn and flowers.  Bye-Bye mole!
