Kyler...we always said when it was your time, you would break our hearts in three. And now our hearts are broken in about a thousand pieces. Kyler's story...in 1994 my then boyfriend (now husband)and I went to adopt a kitty. We picked Kyler because she was so adorable. She really belonged to Tino since I was still living at home. On the weekends I would stay over and she....hated me. I was the other woman. Growling, hissing the whole bit. This was no cute kitty! She kind of scared me :) She only liked Tino. I always joked "she's gonna steal my breath while I'm sleeping!" Even after we married in 97 it took me 3 more years to win her over. Finally, she loved me too. And I fell hard for her.

In 2003 she dissapeared for 10 days...again. this had happened once before so I was hoperful she would come back. I was devastated thinking she would never come back. When she finally did, her back leg was badly injured. We opted for the surgery which was pricey but well worth it -so I thought. My only doubts came later when I saw how much pain she was in. The recovery was brutal. Lots of morphine. She recovered and regained her "Queen" status. This cat was awesome. She was always clean and groomed, smarter than any animal we ever knew and great at communicating. She gave affection when she wanted and had no problem telling you if something was wrong. She had big beautiful eyes that would be squinty and disapproving one second and all lovey face the next.

Never afraid of dogs, she even made our friends pitt bull run into a wall while chasing him. She was amazing. She always stood her ground. She helped me train my dogs and we always laughed at how good she was at keeping them in line. When she charged them, they went running for the hills. No one messed with this cat. She was beautiful and strong and had big paws we called Kyler big paws.

She had this tough side, but sometimes when she thought no one was looking, she'd play like a kitten by herself or with the other animals. On November 25, 2006, she stepped out to use the facilities (she was so cool-she never even needed a litter box) and 10 minutes later when Tino went outside to put the xmas lights up, she was under the car with a compound fracture on the same leg. We still have no idea how it happened. We took her into the vet who did the first surgery, he said this time was really bad and he would not be able to help her. He referred us to a specialist. After considering all of the options we came to the most painful one (for us at least) She was going on her 13th year and we couldn't bear to make her last years miserable.

It's hard to describe what she meant to us. She added so much to our lives and we will are forever grateful. Please check out the rest of her site and sign the guest book (if you'd like) to let us know you stopped by. "Until we meet again, Ky" Love, Mom and Dad

Kyler after surgery 2003

Last picture November 2006. I am going to miss that forehead knock you used to do...

If it should be that I grow weak and pain should keep me from my sleep. Then you must do what must be done, for this last battle cannot be won. You will be sad, I understand. Don't let your grief then stay your hand. For this day more than all the rest, your love for me must stand the test. We've had so many happy years, what is to come can hold no fears. You'd not want me to suffer so. The time has come, please let me go. Take me where my needs they'll tend and please stay with me until the end. Hold me firm and speak to me, until my eyes no longer see. I know in time that you will see, the kindness that you did for me. Although my tail its last has waved, from pain and suffering I've been saved. Please do not grieve it must be you who had this painful thing to do. We've been so close, we two, these years. Don't let your heart hold back its tears. Author Unknown
